WSRS Bird of the Year - Blackbird
WSRS members have been recording the song of our familar garden visitor, the blackbird, Turdus merula. The Blackbird has a rich and varied song; the birds hone their singing skills, learning some of the song from neighbours, and as a result some regional variations in song are to be expected. This page summarises some of this work and some sample recordings from various regions.
