Blackbird - Bird of the Year 2008/09
WSRS members have been recording the song of our familar garden visitor, the blackbird, Turdus merula. The Blackbird has a rich and varied song. Blackbirds hone their singing skills, learning some of the song from neighbouring birds, and as a result some regional variations in song are to be expected. This page summarises some of this work and some sample recordings from various regions.
